 A Big Thank You!

 We had a fantastic night on March 24th at St Michael and All Angel's church to launch our album, 'Peaceful'.

 You can view two of the live performances from the night here (many thanks to Rich Edwards for some of the camera work on the night)

 In front of an appreciative, large crowd (approx. 150 people we think!) we played the entire album from start to finish with a cast of amazing local musicians playing with us. The gig raised £442 for Bristol Mind, which will be used in the development of a young persons counselling service.

 It was an amazing end to the process of recording and making the album: a huge thank you to everyone who supported us. A limited number of CDs are still available to buy from either Shaun or Jonathan (priced £5) or you can buy the album as a digital download on our website here (on a 'pay what you want' basis but a minimum spend of £2.50 required)


A message from Michael Morpurgo:

We sent Michael Morpurgo a copy of one of the tracks on our album, 'Peaceful', which was inspired by his book of the same name. He sent us this lovely response:

"I found this earlier, and thought it very inspiring. So pleased you have written it. And performed it. Let me know how it goes."

 Rock n Roll Angels will be headlining a venue at the Bath Festival on Friday May 18th. The venue is a church in the centre of the city:

 The gig kicks off at 6pm with several other great acts to watch before us at the end.

Shaun gets his breath after a particularly high vocal overdub. Adding a bit of sparkle… And so we move onto what is commonly referred to as 'overdubs'… It's been six weeks since we recorded the basic tracks for our album at St Michael and All Angels Church on Windmill Hill, Bristol; time has flown. We've gone through all of the sixty (yes! count 'em...) individual takes we recorded over the two days. The results are in…and we have our 10 final songs.  So now, we are adding the finishing touches/ embellishments to each track to try and make them 'sing' that little bit louder. Such sonic polishing involves Shaun and I cramming into a small recording booth in a studio in central Bristol on a rainy Sunday in January. Rock n Roll indeed. Welcome to our album!

Most churches are extremely busy over the Christmas holiday; but few will have received a request from a local band to record an entire album on site, turning the pews into a half-decent impression of Abbey Road studios for two days. Rock and Roll Angels is a band born in church, namely St Michael and All Angels, which perches on top of Windmill Hill with glorious views across the city of Bristol. Shaun McCrindle, who forms one half of the songwriting team for the band, was inspired to create Rock n Roll Angels after a solo performance in the church in 2016.  Performing songs written on his late father-in-law's Spanish acoustic guitar in the resonant, intimate acoustic of this Victorian church lit a fuse for Shaun to record a whole album's worth of material in this special space. We have subsequently played together as a band in the church on several occasions in the past year and have been able to share our songs with the local community. Jump forward to Monday

Review of our album launch gig (South Bristol Voice magazine)

We're delighted that our gig to mark the launch of debut album, 'Peaceful',  has been reviewed in this month's South Bristol Voice magazine: NEXT GIG! Rock n Roll Angels will be headlining at St Michaels' Without Church in the heart of Bath city centre as part of the 'Party in the City' free event for Bath Festival on Friday 18th May.  We play at 9:15pm but there is a host of brilliant choirs performing before us on the bill, starting from 6pm.
